Job Description Machine Shop Supervisor Overview: Kenner, LA: Flexicrew Technical Services (FTS) is seeking a highly motivated individual ideally from the high precision and CNC machining industry to supervise and support the daily production machine shop activities. This is a ---hands on--- role where the successful candidate will be able to demonstrate ability to plan, program, set and implement machining tasks on a variety of CNC machines. A strong background in manual machining techniques would be an advantage along with supervisory experience. Essential Duties: -- Training and development of operators to ensure proper execution of the defined processes. -- Assist with the management and planning of production/workload in accordance with business priorities. -- Continuous improvement of manufacturing processes to achieve cost, quality and delivery objectives. -- A good knowledge of appropriate cutting data for machining a variety of materials including stainless steel, carbon steel, high alloy steel, and brass. Requirements/Skills: -- Strong knowledge of the equipment within a machine shop, experience of manufacturing precision parts to tight tolerances on CNC machines, lathes, and millers. -- The ability to program both driven Y, C axis lathes and more essentially horizontal and vertical milling machine centers. -- A good knowledge of CNC programming techniques, production fixtures and production tolling design. -- Ideally have experience of both turning and milling on manual machines and demonstrate hands on capability. -- Excellent communication skills and a proactive team player. -- Strong supervisory, people management, motivational and training skills. -- Ability to provide solutions to decrease cycle times and overcome day to day machining issues. -- Flexibility and ability to adapt to change. -- Ability to understand interpret engineering drawings. -- Able to use a wide variety of measuring equipment. -- Maintain a safe working environment ensuring all company procedures are followed. -- Commitment, dedication, and willingness to succeed and progress is a must. -- Ideally the successful candidate will hold a relevant qualification in Mechanical and/or Production Engineering, however candidates who have considerable experience are also encouraged to apply. -- CNC programming and setting experience. -- General computer skills. Challenges: -- Fast-moving manufacturing business with high focus on improving, developing in-house machining capabilities. -- The business can sometimes need to work to tight deadlines from a demanding customer base. -- Expanding Machine shop with new further capital investment planned in the near future. Physical Requirements: -- Prolonged periods of standing, walking, bending, and stretching. -- Physical ability to operate machines. -- Must be able to lift 35 pounds at a time.
