Transplant and Cellular Therapy (TCT)
RN Coordinator facilitates and coordinates the evaluation of
potential transplant candidates, recipients hospitalized for
transplantation and post-operative complications, and transplant
recipients followed as outpatients. Obtains insurance authorization
and coordinates efforts to establish clinical and financial plans
pre-transplant. Additionally acts as a consultant,
facilitator, practitioner, and educator to a variety of patient
populations requiring all services of the Tulane Cancer Center TCT
clinic. Responsibilities include utilizing the nursing
process, the healthcare environment, and current technology to
provide a climate which optimizes patient care. The Tulane
Cancer Center TCT RN Coordinator is responsible for: the delivery
and management of patient care; education of the patient/family;
and coordination of all aspects of care amongst internal and
external facilities. The Tulane TCT RN Coordinator also advocates
on behalf of the patient, communicates with all appropriate team
members and with the patient and family where appropriate, and
serves as a resource for all clinicians caring for the patient.
Performs other duties as assigned by the TCT Program Director.
- Licensure/Certification/Registration: ONS
Chemotherapy Certification within 6 months of hire; and BMTCN
within 18 months of hire. Valid LA RN License.
- Education: BSN required (or attained within 1
year of hire date). Masters in related field preferred.
- Experience: Previous experience in
Hematology/TCT required – can be combination of inpatient and/or
- Special qualifications: Demonstrates good
organizational skills. Provides safe and appropriate care
within the Standards of Nursing practice at Tulane Health
System. Demonstrates good critical thinking skills.
Displays leadership and problem solving skills. Communicates
positively and professionally with all internal and external
customers. Able to articulate and demonstrate knowledge of nursing
theory and practice. Must have excellent written, verbal, and
interpersonal communication skills.
- Hours of work: M-F Clinic hours (8:00am – 4:30pm) with
occasional after hours and weekends (on-call). .
