Summary You will serve as an INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST (CUSTOMER SUPPORT) in the CUSTOMER SUPPORT DIVISION; INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY DEPARTMENT of SUPSHIP GULF COASTDuties--- You will serve as Customer / Technical Support Specialist within the IT Department supporting command users with workstation, desktop application and peripheral support and troubleshooting.--- You will submit helpdesk tickets as requested by command users and work assigned tickets as disseminated by leadership.--- You will assist IT Department team members with network patching as needed, advanced peripheral support and deployment, and administrative support related to technical input on standard operating procedures, desk guides, user training briefings.--- You will monitor performance metrics to optimize working environment.--- You will troubleshoot hardware and software problems using remote tools, gather and analyze factual data and communicate conclusions and recommendations.--- You will conduct analysis and recommend solutions to resolve complex system and application issues.--- You will deliver a full range of customer support services, including presenting formal and informal training to users relative to assigned systems.--- You will keep abreast of state-of-the-art IT developments and makes recommendations to address trends and new technologies in order to meet user and program needs as well as compliance requirementsRequirements Conditions of Employment--- Must be a US Citizen.--- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.--- Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.--- New employees to the Department of the Navy will be required to successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification checkTo learn more about E-Verify, including your rights and responsibilities, visit e-verify.gov--- Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade levelThis requirement is called time-in-gradeTime-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.--- Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.--- Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.--- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on dutyFailure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.--- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is requiredA tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the testYou will be subject to random testing.--- This position is designated as a Cyber IT/Cybersecurity Workforce positionYou must obtain and maintain the credentials as described in SECNAV M-5239.2;
