Find your future with us.The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) organization is seeking a Project Analyst (level 4 or 5) to join the Hardware/Software Integration team in Huntsville, AL or New Orleans, LA on the Space Launch System (SLS) program contracts.National Aeronautics and Space Administration's (NASA) SLS is the one of the most powerful rockets in the world and offers unprecedented capabilities related to payload mass, volume and energy to enable deep space crewed/uncrewed exploration. SLS is designed to be flexible and evolvable and will open new opportunities for crewed deep space missions. The Exploration Upper Stage (EUS) is SLS's first evolution of design improvements to enhance those capabilities as part of the Block 1B SLS ArchitecturePosition Responsibilities:

  • Manage the projects of a team of multi-discipline engineers, suppliers, and support personnel in the design, development, integration, and test of the SLS avionics and software
  • Assists the engineering manager in executing cost, technical, and schedule management
  • Serves as the project leader responsible for establishing and overseeing cost and schedule baselines
  • Works with the project team to evaluate technical, cost and schedule impacts of proposed changes
  • Leads Risk, Issue, and Opportunity (RIO) management for the team
  • Drives daily execution of project tasks to ensure technical, cost, and schedule objectives are met
  • Drives results through the development, implementation and maintenance of rigorous processes, tools, schedules and metrics
  • Understands how to separate and combine tasks into efficient work flows
  • Maintains current data and provides status on technical and schedule performance issues
  • Identifies opportunities for synergy and integration, and simplify complex processes.
  • Determines the process and tracking metrics to be used to accomplish goals
  • Serves as the Cost Account Manager (CAM) delegate for the team which requires coordination with the program Finance and Scheduling teams
  • Leads aspects of proposal preparation such as developing Basis of Estimates (BOEs), etc.
  • Serves as organization spokesperson on advanced projects and programsThis position allows telecommuting. The selected candidate will have the flexibility of a hybrid work schedule, performing work weekly onsite and remotely. Please note that the hybrid work schedule is subject to program/business needs. Position may require travel up to 10% of the time.This position requires ability to obtain program access, for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship only. The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a "US Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. -- 120.15 is required. "US Person" includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
    • 5+ years of experience leading a multidisciplinary team including engineering and suppliers who provide critical functionality in the design and development of a complex system a project or team
    • 5+ years of experience with managing projects using Earned Value Management/CAM responsibilities
    • 5+ years of experience with risk, issue and opportunity managementPreferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
      • Level 5: 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
      • Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
      • Project Management Professional (PMP)-- certification
      • Extensive experience managing/leading engineering projects
      • Proven experience effectively communicating and collaborating on multi-discipline teams
      • Experience mentoring junior engineers
      • Experience working with and managing multiple suppliers
      • Experience managing deliverables by defining plans for risk mitigation, issues, and opportunities; and, monitoring baseline plans to assess project performance, productivity, and lessons learned
      • Project management experience leading a multi-disciplined team in managing the cost and schedule for the design and development of a systems
      • Experience leading a project for design, development, integration, and test of a large scale complex mechanical and fluid system test facility
      • Background in electronic design and packagingTypical Education/Experience: Lead (Level 4): Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience, 13 years' related work experience, etc.)Senior (Level 5)Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years' related work experience, Master+12 years' related work experience, 18 years' related work experience, etc.).Relocation:This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility.
