Job Description:
Children's Hospital New Orleans is celebrating a new name and

doors in 1955. The Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at Manning
Family Children's is seeking an experienced Advanced Practice
Provider (Pediatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner) with expertise
in hematologic malignancies and cancers to join its growing Cancer
and Blood Disorders program. The candidate would be expected to
grow this expanding program by performing clinical -duties in the
inpatient setting and work closely with physicians to diagnose,
treat, and manage cancer patients, including chemotherapy
administration, symptom management, and patient education. The
hours for this position will vary to include eight, ten or twelve
hours shifts including rotating days, weekends, and holidays.
Besides clinical responsibilities, opportunities exist to
participate in clinical research, QI initiatives, and education.
Hospital leadership is committed to programmatic growth and
excellence. Previous APP and Hematology Oncology experience is
preferred, however new graduates with Acute Care experience are
welcome to apply. Additional Roles and Responsibilities:
- Patient Assessment and Diagnosis: Performing cancer screening
and physical assessments, determining patients' health history, and
diagnosing cancer, including the specific type and stage of the
disease. -
- Treatment Planning and Implementation: Collaborating with
physicians to develop and implement treatment plans, administering
chemotherapy or other treatments, and overseeing treatment
infusions. -
- Symptom Management: Monitoring and managing patients'
conditions and chemotherapy side effects, developing regimens to
manage pain, and providing psychosocial counseling and support. -
- Education and Support: Educating patients and their families
about the disease, treatment options, and what to expect, and
providing support during treatment and beyond. -
- Coordination of Care: Coordinating discharge plans, follow-up
care, home health, and outpatient prescriptions. -
- Collaboration: Participating in daily huddles/conferences with
the team to facilitate communication and coordination of care. -

EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS Completion of an accredited Nurse
Practitioner Program LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS RN and Acute Care
Nurse Practitioner License in Louisiana Basic Life Support (BLS)
