Vice President of Information Technology, The National WWII Museum - New Orleans, LAThe National WWII Museum is currently seeking a Vice President of Information Technology (VP of IT). The VP of IT will be responsible for leading the organization's technological vision and strategy, ensuring seamless integration of innovative solutions to support its mission and operational objectives. This executive leadership role will oversee the development and execution of a comprehensive, long-term technology roadmap that enhances the Museum's infrastructure, cybersecurity, and data integrity while aligning with industry best practices. Additionally, the VP of IT will support the advancement of digital initiatives including the expansion of interactive digital collections and audience engagement. The ideal candidate will bring a blend of strategic leadership and hands-on expertise in technology planning, network architecture, database management, and interactive digital services, ensuring the Museum remains at the forefront of technological innovation.RequirementsStrategic Planning

  • Provide leadership in collaboration with the Museum IT Team and other stakeholders to develop and execute a comprehensive, long-term technology strategy that aligns with the Museum's educational, operational, and institutional goals.
  • Establish a structured process for the continuous evaluation of emerging technologies, ensuring the Museum remains agile in adopting innovative solutions that enhance efficiency and engagement.
  • Collaborate with Museum departments to provide technical support for creative digital strategies that enrich exhibits, programs, content delivery, and stakeholder communications.
  • Foster cross-departmental collaboration by engaging Museum leadership in regular strategic discussions to assess evolving technology needs, optimize application ecosystems, and enhance data management frameworks.
  • Oversee enterprise-wide technology infrastructure, ensuring robust, scalable systems that facilitate seamless information sharing, operational efficiency, and advanced project management capabilities.Interactive Services
    • Provide strategic oversight and leadership in the development and optimization of the Museum's data infrastructure and communications systems, ensuring the secure and efficient transfer of critical information across interactive and online platforms.
    • Work closely with Marketing & Communications and other departments to implement robust, scalable data architectures and supporting technologies that empower the Museum's digital collections, website management, and outreach initiatives, enhancing its ability to fulfill its educational mission and expand audience engagement.
    • Develop and implement an Artificial Intelligence (AI) strategy that aligns with the Museum's goals and objectives. Oversee the integration of AI technologies into existing systems and processes to enhance efficiency and innovation. Stay current with AI trends and advancements and proactively recommend improvements and innovations.Systems, Hardware, Software, and Network Administration
      • Provide strategic oversight of the Museum's network infrastructure, ensuring the reliability, security, and scalability of servers, switches, routers, and other critical IT components.
      • Direct the management and optimization of the Museum's technology asset inventory, including all peripheral and networking equipment, to ensure operational efficiency and resource accountability.
      • Safeguard the integrity and availability of the Museum's data, ensuring robust security measures are in place to protect sensitive information and applications.
      • Implement and oversee a comprehensive data backup strategy and disaster recovery plan, ensuring business continuity through rigorous testing and proactive risk mitigation.
      • Ensure the seamless operation and security of the Museum's internal and external communication systems, maintaining high-performance connectivity across all platforms.
      • Lead the strategic planning and deployment of the Museum's CCTV security infrastructure to enhance physical security and surveillance capabilities.
      • Collaborate with departments to evaluate, select, and implement software solutions that align with operational and strategic objectives, optimizing functionality and user experience.
      • Oversee IT support operations, including desktop support services and workflow tracking, to ensure timely resolution of technical issues and the continuous improvement of IT service delivery.
      • Oversee relationships with technology vendors and service providers, ensuring they comply with the Museum's network and cyber security standards, and conduct audits and due diligence as required.
      • Oversee the process of identifying potential threats, evaluating vulnerability levels, and implementing comprehensive risk mitigation strategies.
      • Oversee the development of leading rapid incident-response strategies and post-incident reviews to minimize disruption and enhance resilience.Data Management
        • Develop and implement a strategic vision for enterprise-wide data management, ensuring seamless integration, security, and scalability across key functional areas, including ticketing, merchandising, collections, fundraising, direct marketing, educational travel programs, accounting, and financial analysis.Administration & Compliance
          • Develop and manage the annual technology budget, ensuring alignment with the Museum's strategic priorities and operational needs.
          • Support the identification and acquisition of funding opportunities by assisting in the preparation of grant applications to secure resources for new and existing technology initiatives.
          • Execute additional responsibilities assigned by the EVP and CFO, contributing to the Museum's overall success and technological advancement.
          • Establish, implement, and enforce comprehensive IT policies to protect the Museum's technology assets and data, ensuring compliance with industry best practices and regulatory standards.
          • Oversee and maintain the organization's PCI compliance, ensuring the secure handling of payment transactions and adherence to data security requirements.
          • Oversee relevant regulations and standards (e.g., SOC2, GDPR, ISO 27001, NIST) to ensure the organization remains compliant and secure.Qualifications and Requirements
            • A bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field, with 5+ years of proven experience leading teams in a dynamic, fast-paced technology-driven environment. Demonstrated leadership abilities are essential.
            • In-depth expertise in database design, architecture, and management tools, with a strong focus on scalability and optimization.
            • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to motivate teams, articulate IT strategic vision across the enterprise, and deliver effective training programs.
            • Proven ability to collaborate effectively in a team-oriented environment, fostering a culture of innovation and collective achievement.
            • Strong organizational skills, with the capacity to manage multiple concurrent tasks under pressure while consistently meeting deadlines and performance expectations.
            • Flexibility to adapt to a non-standard work schedule, including evenings and weekends, when necessary, to meet critical deadlines and project requirements
            • Physical capability to handle tasks requiring up to 20 pounds of lifting, prolonged standing or walking, and occasional bending, squatting, or reaching as needed for equipment use or task completion.Preferred Experience
              • Proven experience leading an outcome-driven Information Technology team within a mid-sized organization, focusing on delivering measurable business results.
              • Expertise in innovative website design, leveraging cutting-edge multimedia content delivery and eCommerce tools to optimize user experience and engagement.
              • Experience in network infrastructure management, including but not limited to Local Area Networks (LAN), wireless, VoIP systems, and fiber-optic networks.
              • Proficient in managing Storage Area Networks (SAN) and implementing robust backup solutions to ensure data integrity and availability.
              • Demonstrates strong understanding and practical application of Zero Trust principles (e.g., least privilege, cloud security, network segmentation, untrusted devices) to safeguard organizational assets.
              • Strong background in managing Windows-based servers, including Windows Server, VMware, and Exchange environments, with a focus on performance and reliability.
              • Experience with desktop support ticket management and systems analysis, ensuring efficient resolution and continuous improvement of support processes.
              • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite for personal productivity, including advanced skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
